Ok, so I was talking to this guy in my film class and he was telling me that he read this book that he loved so he wrote a letter to the author and asked if he could write the screenplay for it, and she told him to get a lawyer to draft up the papers! Could you believe that? I guess it pays to ask. I would never even think about asking to be the person who adapts a book, but that's just so great.
