Last night my friends and I hung out with a group of 5 British boys, and let me just say it was a very informative night. We were playing drinking games and we started out with "I have never" (that game where you say something you have never done and everyone who has done it has to drink). Well with the Brit boys around it took quite a different spin. In America the goal is not to drink a lot, so you choose things to say that you have never done. Well, here they loooovvvveee to drink so they would say something they had done just so they could drink even more.
British 'culture' is pretty much drinking and sex. That's it. That's all these boys do. Brits like to drink all day and they need the time to do that. So they work about 3-4 days a week, so they can make just enough money to pay the rent and drink. They do not work any more than they have to, they do not save money, they do not go to college.
Now onto the sex portion of this informative session on Brit culture. Everyone here has sex all the time. These boys have slept with each other's girlfriends, sisters, friends, and don't care. One guy told us the story of when his friend (who was in the room) nailed his older sister. Also, although England is considered an extremely anti-gay country (so not like Berkeley), all these boys admitted to having kissed another guy (yet their openly homosexual friend is referred to as 'Gay Paul'). Two of them, who were roommates, had a threesome with a girl and admitted to 'doing things to each other.' This was not seen as weird or odd, but as normal. This did not change their relationship in any way. They were surprised when Alex, one of my American friends, said he had never kissed another guy. There was not a thing these boys hadn't tried or done, it was quite an interesting night...
