oscar nominations were released this morning! cate blanchett received two - one for best actress for Elizabeth and one for supporting for I'm Not There. a few surprises - both leads from atonement (keira knightly and james mcavoy) did not receive nominations despite being expected by many to win. but that meant laura linney received a nomination for a movie i haven't heard of, the savages. which i'm glad because she is so under the radar and deserves to be recognized.

a few movies i need to see before the show: michael clayon, no country for old men, gone, baby, gone. oh and congrats to ben affleck's little brother casey for his nomination! i'm glad he's getting recognition too, and stepping out of his brother's shadow. i don't know why these awards make me so excited but they do. it's so fun for me to try and predict who will win. once i see more of the movies i'll begin my predictions!
