Well we are back! Chrissy and I had such an amazing trip. First we went to Savannah, GA for two nights, which was pretty. Such a simple town. Church St is where the church is. Market St is where the market is. Etc. Etc. We went to a fort, shopping in the market area, saw the riverview, Tybee Island and the ocean. Saw a drag show. Not much of a night life there, at least not from what we saw.
Then off to Charleston, SC. So beautiful there. We wish we had stayed here two nights, but we only stayed for one, New Year's. Which was a good night to be there for. So we walked around all day, saw the ocean, the beautiful houses, some churches, including a French Huegenout one dating back a few hundred years, fountains, parks.
Then we went to the market area for some shopping, then food, then off to the town celebration for New Year's. Live music, improv, fireworks. It was awesome. Then off to the gay bars for some real New Year's celebrating. We danced and drank and yelled happy new year. We are definitely coming back to Charleston. It's a nice romantic weekend getaway spot.
Then we went to Myrtle Beach, where Chrissy booked us a room in a resort. It had an indoor heated pool, lazy river, ping pong, an arcade, everything. We had a relaxing night there, went to the beach for a bit, then out to eat at the coolest planet hollywood i have ever seen, then back to the hotel for swimming and relaxing.
Then off to Charlottesville, VA where Monticello is. Thomas Jefferson's house. That was interesting. Virginia is so pretty, beautiful rolling hills, lots of trees. Thomas Jefferson was such an interesting man, hypocritical, ocd, but brilliant. Apparently Virginia is a popular winery area so we stopped at a few vineyards, bought a few delicious bottles of wine. Then off to DC. We were there for 3 days. Did an INSANE amount of sightseeing. Saw the White House, Washington memorial, Jefferson memorial, FDR memorial, Supreme Court, Holocaust museum, Emancipation statute (which was awful, it was commissioned by freed slaves, but first off was like 10 blocks in the opposite direction of everything else in DC, and second was a freed slave on his knees in front of Lincoln, like the freed slaves couldn't even commission a statue with their own money that was just about them). Also saw Ford's Theatre where Lincoln was shot, the reflecting pool, Capital building, National Archives (declaration of independence, bill of rights, constitution) and I'm sure more stuff that I'm forgetting. We saw a drag show in DC too, that one was pretty wild. Very funny MC though, but a few people that were too drunk to be out in public.
Then we arrived in NY just in time for the L-word premiere at Pacha. Dani Campbell, the girl finalist from Tila Tequila was the "celeb star" there. She looked the same as on tv, but now has a bit more confidence. I guess now she is single and has been on tv and so she gets recognized everywhere. All the girls there loved her.
